The Punjab School Education Department has announced revised school timings across the province. The new schedule will begin on August 24, 2026.
Public and private schools across Punjab will reopen after the summer vacation. Classes will run from Monday to Friday under the new schedule.
The department issued the notification on August 21. It also provided separate timings for public schools across the province.
The new timings for public schools will remain effective until October 15, 2026. The schedule includes different hours for single and double shift schools.
Timings for Single Shift Schools
Single shift schools will start classes at 8:00 a.m. from Monday to Thursday. Classes will continue until 1:30 p.m.
On Fridays, the school day will end earlier. Classes will run from 8:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
These timings will apply to single shift public schools during the specified period.
Timings for Double Shift Schools
Double shift schools will follow separate morning and evening schedules.
From Monday to Thursday, the morning shift will begin at 8:00 a.m. It will continue until 12:30 p.m.
The evening shift will start at 1:00 p.m. Classes will continue until 5:30 p.m.
Friday timings will also differ for both shifts. The morning shift will run from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
The evening shift will begin at 2:00 p.m. It will end at 5:30 p.m.
The Punjab School Education Department has instructed education authorities to ensure compliance. Chief Executive Officers of District Education Authorities will oversee implementation.
Officials will ensure schools follow the notified schedule after reopening. The department has also provided limited flexibility for girls’ schools.
District education authorities may adjust the 15-minute gap for girls’ schools. This adjustment can be made according to local requirements.
The decision aims to accommodate local circumstances while maintaining the overall school schedule.
The department has already confirmed that schools will reopen on August 24. Earlier, authorities also directed schools to complete preparations before students return.
The summer vacation for public and private schools was scheduled to end on August 23. Schools were therefore set to resume classes the following day.
The revised timings will help schools prepare for regular academic activities. Parents and students can follow the schedule according to their school’s shift system.
The notification was issued by Mudassir Riaz Malik, Secretary of the School Education Department. It followed approval from the competent authority.
The new schedule provides clear operating hours for schools across Punjab. It also gives district authorities responsibility for monitoring compliance.
Students returning after the summer break should check their school’s specific shift timing. This is especially important for students attending double shift institutions.
