The NAB has reported record recoveries during the first six months of 2026, with total recoveries reaching Rs5.414 trillion. According to the bureau’s latest performance report, this is the highest amount recovered during any six-month period since NAB was established.
The report states that NAB recovered Rs2.452 trillion during the second quarter of 2026 alone. These recoveries significantly increased the bureau’s overall total for the first half of the year. Officials say the latest figures reflect continued efforts to recover public assets and strengthen accountability across the country.
According to the report, the bureau’s total recoveries from March 2023 to June 2026 have reached Rs16.938 trillion. The recovered assets include government land, financial assets, and funds returned to victims of fraud.
One of the largest achievements during the reporting period was the recovery of government land. During the second quarter, NAB recovered 1,078,283 acres of land located in Balochistan, Sindh, Punjab, and Islamabad. The recovered properties belonged to various government departments and public institutions.
The bureau also returned Rs42.303 billion and other recovered assets to more than 24,365 victims affected by housing scams and financial fraud. Officials said compensating victims remains an important part of the bureau’s accountability efforts.
Among all regional offices, NAB Sukkur recorded the largest land recovery. Working with the Sindh Board of Revenue and the provincial Forest Department, the office recovered 853,678 acres belonging to the National Highway Authority (NHA) and the forest and irrigation departments.
The recovered land was valued at approximately Rs1.01 trillion and has been handed over to the Sindh government.
In Balochistan, the bureau recovered 209,544 acres of forest and other government land worth Rs604.64 billion. The recovered areas included land associated with the Coastal Highway, Gwadar Industrial Estate Development Authority, and Hingol National Park.
NAB Karachi recovered 11,422 acres of government land valued at Rs467.11 billion. According to the report, the land had allegedly been allotted illegally to housing societies and private individuals.
In Punjab, NAB Lahore recovered 1,909 acres belonging to the Punjab Cooperative Board for Liquidation and other government departments. The recovered properties were valued at Rs288.29 billion.
The Islamabad-Rawalpindi Regional Office recovered 810 acres of Capital Development Authority (CDA) welfare plots worth Rs66.63 billion from various housing societies.
Meanwhile, NAB Multan recovered 920 acres of government land with an estimated value of Rs2.76 billion.
The bureau also announced plans to modernize its internal operations. According to the report, NAB is moving toward a fully paperless e-office system to improve administrative efficiency and reduce paperwork across its offices.
In addition, the bureau plans to introduce artificial intelligence (AI)-based tools to support investigations. Officials believe AI can improve case management, speed up investigations, and strengthen the accountability process.
