Government Approves 35% Salary Increase for TTS University Faculty

The Government has approved a 35% increase in salaries for university teachers working under the Tenure Track System (TTS). The revised pay package came into effect on July 1, 2026, and applies to eligible faculty members serving in universities across Pakistan.

According to an office memorandum issued by the Ministry of Finance, the updated TTS Pay Package 2026 covers Professors, Associate Professors, and Assistant Professors employed under the Tenure Track System. The decision is intended to revise salary structures for these academic positions.

The Government said the new salary package will apply to faculty members who were already serving under the TTS system on June 30, 2026. These employees will be transferred to the new TTS-2026 pay scale at the same stage where they were placed under the previous scale.

Under the revised package, the salary range for TTS Professors has been increased. The minimum monthly salary has risen from Rs. 394,875 to Rs. 407,230. The maximum salary has also increased from Rs. 684,450 to Rs. 712,030.

Associate Professors have also received a significant salary revision. Their minimum salary has increased from Rs. 263,250 to Rs. 370,810. The maximum salary has been raised from Rs. 493,590 to Rs. 645,610.

Assistant Professors working under the TTS system will also benefit from the revised package. Their minimum salary has increased from Rs. 175,500 to Rs. 288,020, while the maximum salary has risen from Rs. 356,475 to Rs. 553,820.

The Ministry of Finance stated that the revised salary structure is now officially effective. Universities operating under the Tenure Track System are expected to implement the updated pay scales according to the approved guidelines.

The Government regularly reviews salary structures for public sector employees and academic staff. Pay revisions are generally introduced to improve compensation and support professional development in different sectors.

The Tenure Track System is designed to attract qualified teachers and researchers to higher education institutions. It offers a performance-based career structure with competitive salaries compared to traditional university pay scales.

The latest revision is expected to provide financial relief to eligible faculty members. It may also help universities retain experienced teachers and encourage academic excellence.

University teachers working under the TTS system play an important role in teaching, research, and innovation. Better salary packages can contribute to improving the overall quality of higher education.

The revised package only applies to faculty members covered under the Tenure Track System. Teachers serving under other employment structures will continue to receive salaries according to their respective pay scales unless separate revisions are announced.

Officials said existing TTS employees will move to the new pay structure without changing their placement level. This means eligible faculty members will continue from the same salary stage under the updated TTS-2026 scale.

The Government believes the revised salary package reflects its commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s higher education sector. Improved financial benefits may also encourage talented professionals to pursue academic careers.
