The Punjab government has reaffirmed its commitment to completing the Faisalabad-Chiniot road development project on schedule. Provincial authorities have instructed officials to maintain high construction standards while ensuring the project is completed within the planned timeline.
The directions were issued by Punjab Minister for Communications and Works Malik Sohaib Ahmad Bharth during a review meeting held on Monday. He emphasized that timely completion and quality construction remain the department’s top priorities. He also directed the relevant authorities to closely monitor every stage of the project.
Officials informed the meeting that work on the dualization of the Faisalabad-Chiniot-Sargodha Road is progressing according to schedule. The project is considered an important infrastructure initiative for central Punjab. It is expected to improve travel conditions and strengthen road connectivity between major cities.
According to the latest progress report, the 24-kilometer section extending from Kamalpur Interchange to Tehsil Chowk in Chiniot has entered its final phase. Asphalt work has already been completed across the entire stretch. Workers are now carrying out lane marking and constructing the road median before the project reaches completion.
The development project is being executed at an estimated cost of Rs. 7.575 billion. Once completed, it will provide safer, smoother, and faster travel for commuters moving between Faisalabad, Chiniot, and Sargodha. Officials believe the upgraded road will significantly reduce travel time and improve transportation efficiency.
The improved road network is also expected to support trade and commercial activity across the region. Better transportation infrastructure can help businesses move goods more efficiently while improving access to markets and industrial areas. This is likely to contribute to economic growth in Punjab.
During the meeting, the minister stressed that construction quality should not be compromised at any stage of the project. He instructed engineers and contractors to ensure all work complies with approved engineering standards and project specifications.
The Communications and Works Department is continuing regular inspections to monitor construction progress. Officials say these inspections are intended to ensure that work remains on schedule and meets the required quality benchmarks.
The Punjab government has continued to invest in road infrastructure through highways, bridges, flyovers, and road expansion projects. These initiatives are designed to improve traffic flow, enhance public safety, and support long-term economic development across the province.
Officials believe modern transport infrastructure plays an important role in regional development. Better roads encourage investment, improve connectivity, and make travel more convenient for residents and businesses alike.
