Quetta to Peshawar Bus Plunges Into Ravine, 24 Killed

A tragic road accident claimed at least 24 lives after a passenger coach plunged into a deep ravine in the Dhana Sar area between Zhob and Dera Ismail Khan on Friday. The bus was travelling from Quetta to Peshawar when it met with the devastating accident, leaving dozens of passengers dead and several others injured. Rescue teams rushed to the scene to begin emergency operations in the mountainous area.

According to Sherani Deputy Commissioner Wali Kakar, the passenger coach was carrying 35 people at the time of the accident. Initial reports confirmed that at least 24 passengers lost their lives, while eight others sustained injuries. The injured were immediately shifted to nearby hospitals for medical treatment as rescue officials worked to reach those trapped inside the wreckage.

Rescue operations continued despite the difficult terrain, with emergency responders facing significant challenges in accessing the accident site. Officials said teams were working tirelessly to evacuate injured passengers and recover victims from the deep ravine. Authorities stressed that rescue efforts would continue until every passenger had been accounted for.

The district administration remained actively involved in overseeing the relief operation. Officials stated that the final number of casualties would only be confirmed after rescue activities were fully completed. Authorities also assured that every possible resource had been mobilized to assist victims and support the ongoing emergency response.

Health authorities in Balochistan declared an emergency at nearby hospitals to ensure prompt treatment for the injured. Medical staff were placed on high alert to handle the influx of patients, while ambulances continued transporting survivors from the accident site. Doctors are providing immediate care to those injured, with some reported to be in critical condition.

Road accidents involving passenger buses remain a serious concern in Pakistan, particularly on mountainous routes where difficult terrain and sharp turns often increase travel risks. Authorities are expected to investigate the cause of the crash once rescue operations conclude. The tragic incident has once again highlighted the importance of road safety measures and improved transport infrastructure to prevent similar disasters in the future.
