Internet users across Pakistan experienced widespread connectivity problems on Thursday, with thousands reporting slow browsing speeds and interruptions while using online services. The issue affected people in multiple cities, making it difficult for many to carry out everyday online activities.
Complaints about the internet slowdown quickly spread across social media as users reported delays in loading websites, streaming videos, making online calls, attending virtual meetings, and using mobile applications. Many said the reduced speeds were affecting both work and personal activities.
According to internet monitoring platform Downdetector, reports of service disruptions increased significantly from different parts of the country. Users faced problems accessing websites, social media platforms, and other digital services, while some experienced unstable connections throughout the day.
The exact reason behind the nationwide internet slowdown has not yet been confirmed. As of now, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has not released an official statement explaining the cause of the disruption or indicating when normal internet services are expected to be restored.
The lack of official information has added to public frustration. Many users turned to X (formerly Twitter) to share screenshots of slow internet speeds and express concern over the ongoing connectivity issues. Several users also called on the authorities to provide an explanation and resolve the problem as quickly as possible.
Businesses, freelancers, students, and professionals who rely heavily on stable internet connections were among those most affected. Slow download speeds, interrupted video calls, and delayed access to cloud-based services caused inconvenience for many throughout the day.
Digital communication has become an essential part of daily life in Pakistan, making reliable internet access increasingly important for work, education, entertainment, and financial transactions. Any disruption in connectivity can affect productivity and create challenges for millions of users.
With no confirmed cause or restoration timeline announced so far, internet users continue to wait for an official update from the relevant authorities. Until then, the reason behind the widespread slowdown remains unclear, while reports of poor internet performance continue to emerge from different regions of the country.
