Government Ends Friday Work-From-Home Policy for Employees

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced the end of the work-from-home policy for government employees on Fridays. The new decision will take effect from July 1, requiring all public sector employees to return to their offices for regular duties.

According to an official notification, Fridays will once again be treated as normal working days. Government employees will be required to attend their respective offices and perform their responsibilities according to the standard office schedule.

The provincial government has directed all administrative secretaries to ensure the immediate implementation of the revised policy. All government departments and offices across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will remain open on Fridays, and official business will continue under the routine working system.

The work-from-home arrangement had originally been introduced as part of the provincial government’s austerity measures. The initiative was aimed at reducing electricity consumption, fuel expenses, and other operational costs by limiting the number of employees working from government offices on Fridays.

Officials believe that the financial situation has improved enough to restore normal office operations. As a result, the temporary work-from-home facility has now been withdrawn, and employees are expected to maintain regular attendance from the beginning of July.

The latest decision follows a similar move by the federal government, which also ended the Friday work-from-home policy for employees in public institutions. The federal decision came after the United States and Iran reached a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at easing tensions and ending the recent Middle East conflict.

With both federal and provincial governments restoring regular office attendance, public institutions are expected to resume their normal weekly working routines. Authorities have instructed all departments to comply fully with the new policy and ensure there is no disruption in public services.

Government officials have emphasized that the decision is intended to improve administrative efficiency and ensure the smooth functioning of offices while continuing efforts to manage public resources effectively.
