Lahore Electric Supply Company has inaugurated Lahore’s first 180kW electric vehicle fast-charging station on Shami Road, marking a major step forward in the city’s transition toward electric mobility.
The facility was inaugurated by M Ramzan Butt on Friday. According to the power utility, Lesco provided a fast-track grid connection and technical support to ensure the charging station became operational within a short period.
The new charging station is expected to support the growing adoption of electric vehicles by offering fast and convenient charging services for EV users in Lahore.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Ramzan Butt said Lesco remains committed to supporting Pakistan’s shift toward cleaner and more sustainable transportation through the development of modern energy infrastructure.
He described the launch as a significant milestone for both Lahore and the country’s emerging EV ecosystem, highlighting the importance of accessible charging facilities in encouraging wider adoption of electric vehicles.
The Lesco chief also reaffirmed the utility’s commitment to facilitating additional EV charging projects across its service territory to meet future transportation and energy requirements.
The launch comes as Pakistan continues to promote electric mobility through supportive policies and investments aimed at reducing fuel consumption, lowering emissions, and strengthening energy efficiency.
Officials believe the availability of fast-charging infrastructure will play a crucial role in accelerating EV adoption and supporting the country’s long-term sustainability goals.
