At least nine people lost their lives and seven others were injured after strong winds, lightning strikes, and heavy rainfall battered several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA). The severe weather triggered multiple incidents across the province, prompting emergency rescue and relief operations.
The PDMA reported that the victims included five men, two women, and two children. The fatalities occurred as intense weather conditions swept through different parts of the province, causing widespread disruption and posing serious risks to residents. Authorities are continuing to assess the full extent of the damage caused by the storm system.
The affected districts include Dera Ismail Khan, Upper Dir, Kohat, and Orakzai. Officials said weather-related incidents in these areas led to casualties and injuries, while rescue teams were dispatched to assist affected communities.
In addition to the loss of life, the severe weather damaged four houses. According to the PDMA, three homes suffered partial damage, while one house was completely destroyed. Local authorities are evaluating the structural damage and identifying families requiring immediate assistance and shelter.
Rescue and relief activities are being carried out by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority, Rescue 1122, and district administrations. Emergency responders are working to provide support to affected families, clear damaged areas, and ensure that necessary aid reaches those impacted by the storms.
The Director General of the PDMA has instructed officials to accelerate relief efforts and ensure the prompt delivery of assistance to affected households.
