Sindh Police Unveil High-Tech Policing Plan

The Sindh Police has launched a major modernization initiative, with Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho forming a high-level committee to upgrade the force in line with modern technological and operational requirements.

According to reports, the committee will be headed by Additional IG Establishment Training Iqbal Dara and includes senior officials from various departments, including Establishment, West Zone, State Management, Finance, and East Zone Investigation.

The committee has been tasked with reviewing the integration of advanced policing tools such as artificial intelligence systems, cybercrime units, drone-based aerial surveillance, specialized investigation and security forces, and professional media and strategic communication teams.

Officials said the body will also assess the department’s workforce requirements and determine the need for IT experts and other skilled professionals to support modern policing operations.

In addition, the committee will develop recommendations for a structured framework governing the recruitment, transfer, and assignment of officers to specialized technology-driven policing roles.

The initiative is aimed at bringing Sindh Police closer to international law enforcement standards by enhancing technological capabilities, strengthening cybercrime response mechanisms, and improving overall operational efficiency.

Authorities believe the reforms will help the force better address emerging security challenges while improving public safety and service delivery across the province.
