CCD Admits Officer Error in Lahore That Killed Hania

Punjab’s Crime Control Department (CCD) has admitted that one of its officers made a fatal operational mistake during a robbery response in Lahore that resulted in the death of a 10-year-old Pakistani-Australian girl, Hania.

According to an official statement from the Crime Control Department Punjab, the incident occurred on the night of June 10 when personnel responded to an armed robbery involving a family vehicle. The department said the suspects had already stopped the car and were holding the family at gunpoint when officers reached the scene.

CCD stated that an exchange of fire took place after the robbers allegedly opened fire on the responding team. During the chaotic situation, one officer mistakenly believed the suspects were attempting to escape in the family’s vehicle and opened fire on the car.

The firing resulted in the death of 10-year-old Hania, while her father and brother were also injured in the incident. The department said the officer’s actions violated standard operating procedures and the legal framework governing the use of force.

Following the incident, the officer was suspended the same day, taken into custody, arrested, and later produced before a court, which sent him into judicial remand. CCD also confirmed that an FIR was registered on the complaint of the victim’s father, and forensic evidence, including the officer’s weapon and spent cartridges, has been collected for investigation.

Reports further allege that multiple rounds were fired into the family vehicle, causing severe damage, while other personnel present did not intervene. Authorities say the investigation will determine the full sequence of events and accountability.

CCD added that it remains in regular contact with the grieving family and is providing updates as the case progresses through legal and investigative channels.
