PTI MPA Salman Mehdi Seeks NCCIA Action Over Video Leak

A leaked video allegedly linked to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Punjab Assembly member Salman Shahid Mehdi has gone viral on social media, prompting an investigation by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).

Following the circulation of the leaked video, Salman Shahid Mehdi submitted a formal complaint to cybercrime authorities, accusing several individuals of spreading the content and attempting to damage his reputation. The complaint led to immediate action by the NCCIA, which has launched an inquiry into the matter.

According to official records, the PTI lawmaker named two individuals, identified as Abdullah and Mudassar, as key suspects allegedly involved in sharing the leaked video online. He has also accused more than 25 unidentified individuals of helping distribute the content across various social media platforms.

As part of the investigation, the NCCIA Cyber Crime Reporting Center in Lahore issued a notice under Section 160 of the Criminal Procedure Code to a suspect identified as Mudassar, son of Manzoor Ahmad. The notice directs him to appear before investigators on June 8, 2026, and bring his mobile phone for forensic analysis. Authorities are particularly interested in examining WhatsApp activity dating back to May 1, 2026.

In a separate application submitted to the Deputy Director of NCCIA Lahore, Salman Shahid claimed that the leaked video and related content are fabricated and generated using artificial intelligence technology. He alleged that he is the target of an organized online campaign involving fake videos and images designed to harm his personal and political image.

Sources said the NCCIA has summoned the named suspects for questioning and has begun a detailed digital forensic investigation. Officials are tracing the origin of the leaked video, including identifying the first social media accounts and internet addresses used to upload and circulate the content.

The complaint states that the material has been shared since June 1 through WhatsApp groups and Facebook pages, causing significant emotional distress and reputational damage.

Authorities have described the case as a serious cybercrime matter involving alleged digital harassment, impersonation, and misuse of online platforms. Further legal action is expected once forensic findings are completed and additional suspects are identified.
