Sindh Clarifies School Holiday Schedule for Students

The Sindh School Education and Literacy Department has dismissed reports circulating on social media about an extension of Eid al-Adha holidays for schools across the province, calling the notification fake and misleading.

According to the department, a notice being widely shared online falsely claimed that all public and private schools in Sindh would remain closed today due to extended Eid holidays. Officials clarified that no such announcement has been issued by the government.

The department addressed the matter through an official statement shared on its social media platforms, urging parents, students, and school administrations to verify information from authentic sources before sharing it. Authorities emphasized that only official notifications issued by the department should be considered valid.

The clarification came after the fake notice gained attention online, causing confusion among students and parents regarding school reopening schedules.

Earlier, the Sindh government had officially announced Eid al-Adha holidays from May 26 to May 28 for all public and private educational institutions across the province. These dates remain unchanged, according to the department.

Officials also explained that many private schools follow a weekly holiday on Saturdays. In addition, summer vacations are set to begin from June 1. Due to this schedule, several private institutions have decided to merge the Eid break with summer holidays and remain closed until July 31.

However, these decisions are being made independently by schools and do not reflect any province-wide extension of Eid holidays by the government.

The School Education Department advised citizens to remain cautious about unverified information circulating online. It warned that fake notifications can create unnecessary confusion and urged the public to check official government channels for accurate updates regarding school schedules and holidays.

The department reiterated that the viral notification regarding additional Eid al-Adha holidays has no official status and should be ignored. Parents and students have been encouraged to stay informed through verified announcements to avoid misunderstanding about school operations in the coming weeks.
