Quetta Railway Track Blast Injures More than 20 People

QUETTA – A powerful blast near a railway track close to Chaman Phatak in Quetta caused panic in the city, injuring more than 20 people and damaging a passenger train along with several nearby vehicles.

According to police officials, the explosion occurred in a busy area of Quetta where traffic and commuters were present at the time. Authorities said the blast struck near a moving train and also damaged around 10 vehicles parked or passing nearby. The intensity of the explosion shattered windows of nearby buildings and spread fear across the surrounding area.

Soon after the incident, police, rescue officials, and security agencies rushed to the site and launched emergency response operations. Law enforcement authorities sealed the area while forensic experts began collecting evidence under strict security measures.

Government hospitals in Quetta declared a medical emergency after the blast. Additional doctors and medical staff were called to hospitals to ensure quick treatment for the injured victims.

Railway officials confirmed that the Jaffar Express, which was heading toward Peshawar, was stopped at Quetta railway station following the explosion. The incident caused major disruption to railway services and left many passengers stranded.

Authorities later said the situation in Quetta had been brought under control, while investigations were continuing to determine the exact cause and nature of the explosion.

Officials claimed the attack was linked to elements associated with “Fitna Al Hindustan” and described it as an attack targeting innocent civilians. According to authorities, the blast caused damage and fire near the passenger train, putting the lives of women, children, and elderly travelers in danger.

Rescue teams continued evacuation efforts and shifted the injured to hospitals for treatment. Security officials also reiterated that terrorism-related incidents in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan would not weaken the country’s efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region.
