Zilhaj Moon Sighted in Saudi Arabia, Eidul Azha Date Revealed

The Saudi Supreme Court has officially confirmed the sighting of the Zilhaj moon, marking the beginning of the Islamic month of Zilhaj. Following the announcement, authorities confirmed that Eid ul Azha will be celebrated across Saudi Arabia on May 27.

According to Arab media reports, the first day of Zilhaj will fall on May 18, while Wuquf-e-Arafah, one of the most significant days of Hajj, will be observed on May 26. Millions of Muslims from around the world are expected to gather in the holy city of Makkah to perform Hajj rituals during this sacred period.

Indonesia Also Announces Eid ul Azha Date

The Zilhaj moon has also been sighted in Indonesia, where officials confirmed that Eid ul Azha will likewise be observed on May 27. Indonesian religious authorities stated that the Ministry of Religious Affairs officially announced the beginning of Zilhaj after receiving verified moon-sighting reports.

With the confirmation, Muslims across Indonesia are now preparing for Eid ul Azha celebrations, prayers, and the religious tradition of animal sacrifice.

Tunisia and Türkiye Confirm Moon Sighting

Earlier, Tunisia and Türkiye also announced the sighting of the Zilhaj moon and officially declared May 18 as the first day of Zilhaj. Both countries confirmed that Eid ul Azha will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 27.

Tunisia became the first country to formally announce the beginning of Zilhaj after confirming the moon sighting on Saturday, May 16, which corresponded to the 29th day of Ziqadah in the Islamic calendar.

Türkiye Follows Astronomical Calendar

Türkiye also confirmed the Eid ul Azha date based on its official Islamic calendar system. Unlike many Muslim countries that rely on physical moon sightings, Türkiye follows a pre-calculated Islamic calendar prepared through astronomical calculations.

This system allows Turkish authorities to announce Islamic dates in advance. As a result, the country had already determined May 18 as the beginning of Zilhaj and May 27 as Eid ul Azha.

Muslims Prepare for Eid ul Azha Celebrations

With multiple countries confirming the moon sighting, preparations for Eid ul Azha have started in different parts of the world. The religious festival holds great importance for Muslims and is observed with prayers, charity, family gatherings, and animal sacrifices in remembrance of Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion and obedience.
