Karachi Launches Pakistan’s First Floodlight Night Racing Track

Karachi is set to host night-time car racing events after a major motorsports facility was upgraded with advanced lighting systems. The development has introduced new opportunities for racing enthusiasts in the city.

According to details, a private housing society located on the Super Highway has installed LED floodlights at its autocross track. The upgraded track now allows events to be held during both day and night.

Officials and organizers say this is Pakistan’s first fully floodlit motorsports track. The facility is expected to boost racing activities in Karachi and attract more participants.

The track is more than two kilometers long. It is equipped with 100 light towers, 300 LED lights, and four high-mast lighting structures. These installations make night racing possible in safe conditions.

A dedicated drag-racing strip has also been developed at the venue. The 400-meter strip supports 200-meter side-by-side races. Two vehicles can compete at the same time.

High-performance cars participating in drag races can reach speeds above 250 kilometers per hour. A modern timing system has been installed at the finish line to ensure accurate race results.

In the first phase, the facility has been opened for multiple motorsport formats. These include autocross racing, drag racing, drifting, and buggy ATV events. Remote-control off-road competitions are also part of the plan.

The introduction of floodlights is expected to change the motorsports scene in Karachi. Many enthusiasts previously could not participate in daytime events due to work and other commitments.

Night racing is also expected to reduce challenges caused by extreme daytime heat. Organizers believe this will improve participation and event scheduling.

A 2.5-kilometer service road has been constructed around the track. Emergency services, including fire brigade and ambulance support, will remain available during events.

The facility also includes space for up to 100,000 spectators. Additional features include a food court, accommodation areas, and parking facilities for visitors coming from across Pakistan.
