Sindh Announces 1,000 More Pink Electric Scooters for Women

The Sindh government has approved the procurement of 1,000 more Pink Electric Scooters for women as part of its ongoing initiative to improve affordable, safe, and women-focused transportation across the province.

Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said the provincial administration is also expanding the public transport network by introducing inter-city People’s Bus Service routes in several districts. According to him, the upcoming routes will connect cities and towns including Larkana, Dadu, Sehwan, Hyderabad, and Sanghar to enhance regional travel and improve connectivity for commuters.

Sharjeel Inam Memon, who oversees the transport and mass transit department, stated that the government is additionally planning to bring more electric and double-decker buses to Karachi in order to further strengthen the city’s urban transport infrastructure.

He also announced that new transport routes linking Khairpur with Rohri and Khairpur with Ranipur are expected to begin operations next week.

The developments were discussed during a meeting of the Sindh transport and mass transit department chaired by Memon. The session was attended by senior officials, including the transport secretary, the managing director of the Sindh Mass Transit Authority, and other concerned stakeholders.

During the meeting, officials reviewed various ongoing and future transport projects, including the expansion of bus services, the distribution process of Pink Electric Scooters, and proposals related to electric taxi services.

Authorities informed the meeting that additional buses would soon arrive in Karachi to improve travel facilities for residents and daily passengers.

Memon instructed officials to address registration-related matters concerning the Pink Electric Scooters on a priority basis. He said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to women’s empowerment by ensuring secure, comfortable, and dignified transportation options.

He further noted that electric buses, scooters, and hybrid transport systems are environmentally friendly and economically practical. Officials added that Sindh’s transport system is gradually being modernised with special focus on women, students, and everyday commuters.
