PSCA Launches Crackdown on Fake Calls to Helpline 15

The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has started a strict action against fake and irrelevant calls made to Emergency Helpline 15.

Officials said the move aims to stop misuse of the emergency service across the province. The PSCA has identified individuals involved in repeated hoax calls.

According to a spokesperson, the PSCA has traced the top 150 hoax callers. Legal proceedings have already been initiated against them.

Authorities also confirmed that cases will be registered against anyone found misusing the emergency helpline service.

The PSCA stated that fake calls create serious problems for emergency response teams. These calls keep the system busy and delay real assistance.

Officials revealed that in April 2026 alone, Helpline 15 received more than 724,000 fake and irrelevant calls. This has put pressure on emergency operations.

The PSCA said such misuse can endanger lives. Genuine callers may face delays during real emergencies.

To control the issue, the PSCA has also started issuing callback warnings. Around 200 callers are being contacted every month.

The purpose of these warnings is to educate citizens about responsible use of the emergency system.

The PSCA reminded the public that Helpline 15 is a free emergency service. It must only be used in real emergency situations.

Officials warned that misuse of the helpline is a punishable offence under the law. Strict action will continue against violators.

The PSCA urged citizens to cooperate and avoid unnecessary calls. They said responsible behavior can help save lives during critical situations.

Authorities emphasized that the PSCA is working to improve emergency response efficiency. Reducing fake calls is a key part of this effort.

The PSCA also plans to continue awareness campaigns. These campaigns will educate people about proper use of emergency services.

Officials said the goal is to ensure faster response times for real emergencies. They added that public cooperation is essential for success.
