Maryam Nawaz Announces Rs23 Billion Development Plan for Katcha Area

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced major development projects worth Rs23 billion for the Katcha area. The decision was taken during a special meeting held in Lahore.

During the meeting, Maryam Nawaz also launched the “Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar” programme. The initiative aims to improve employment opportunities and local development in the region.

She directed that 14,500 acres of government land be distributed among the people of Katcha. This step is intended to support economic growth and farming activity.

The development plan covers multiple sectors. It includes the construction of schools, hospitals, roads, and bridges under the Katcha Area Development Programme.

Maryam Nawaz also ordered transport facilities for residents. Mobile clinics and health services will be introduced in the area.

A mobile veterinary hospital and laboratory will also be provided. This will support livestock care and rural farming needs.

Officials briefed the meeting about new security measures. They said modern solar-powered drone surveillance will be launched for the first time in the region.

These drones are capable of flying for more than 24 hours. They will help improve monitoring in remote areas.

Surveillance cameras will also be installed in police vans and APCs. This step is part of improved security arrangements.

Katcha Safe City monitoring will also be introduced at police stations and check posts. The goal is to strengthen law enforcement in the area.

The financial plan includes Rs7.1 billion for law and order. Rs13.9 billion will be spent on social infrastructure development.

Another Rs1.7 billion has been allocated for additional projects. Officials said this will support long-term improvement in the region.

Education has also been included in the plan. Around 6,551 female students will receive milk packs in schools.

In addition, 300 students will receive Honhar scholarships. Another 300 students will be provided with laptops.

Road development is also part of the plan. Authorities will construct 108 km of soling roads and 144 km of paved roads.

The government will also build and upgrade 65 schools in Katcha. This includes 16 new schools and two girls’ colleges.

A model village project has also been approved. Sewerage, drainage, sports, and skills development projects will also begin.

NADRA registration has started in the area. Residents will receive computerized identity cards and farming support.
