Legal Trophy Hunt of Himalayan Ibex Conducted in Chitral Valley

A national hunter has successfully hunted a trophy-sized Himalayan Ibex in the Arkari Valley of Chitral. The activity was carried out under a legal permit issued through an open bidding system.

According to the Chitral Wildlife Division, the hunt followed all official rules. Authorities confirmed that the process was fully transparent and regulated.

The hunter, Zeerak Zaman, secured the permit after participating in a competitive bidding process. He paid nearly Rs. 320,000, which covered the full cost of the hunting permit.

Officials said the Himalayan Ibex was a trophy specimen due to its size and age. The animal measured 45 inches in horn length and was estimated to be around 11 years old.

Wildlife authorities said such hunts are part of regulated conservation programs. These programs are designed to control populations and support environmental management.

The Himalayan Ibex hunting permits are issued under strict supervision. Officials ensure that only selected animals are hunted through a controlled system.

Authorities explained that the open bidding process helps maintain transparency. It also generates revenue for wildlife protection efforts in the region.

Officials added that funds collected from trophy hunting are used for conservation projects. These funds also support local communities living in remote mountain areas.

The Chitral Wildlife Division said the regulated hunting system plays an important role in sustainable wildlife management. It allows limited hunting while protecting the overall species population.

The successful hunt of the Himalayan Ibex has once again highlighted the importance of legal wildlife programs. Authorities stressed that illegal hunting is strictly prohibited and punished under the law.

Officials also said such controlled programs help balance ecological needs and economic benefits. Local communities benefit through conservation funding and development projects.

The region of Chitral is known for its rich wildlife, including the Himalayan Ibex. Conservation efforts continue to focus on protecting natural habitats while allowing limited, regulated hunting.
