Airlines Plan Direct Flights Between Ethiopia and Lahore

Ethiopian Airlines is planning to launch direct flights to Lahore, according to discussions held in Islamabad. The proposal was reviewed during a meeting between Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan and Ethiopian Ambassador Dr Oumer Hussein Oba.

Officials said the new Airlines route is expected to improve air connectivity between Pakistan and Ethiopia. It may also support stronger business relations and cultural exchange between both countries.

The envoy explained that the proposed Airlines service could help improve business-to-business linkages. It is also expected to make travel easier for traders, investors, and tourists.

During the meeting, both sides focused on expanding bilateral trade and industrial cooperation. They also discussed ways to improve regional connectivity, especially with African markets.

Minister Jam Kamal Khan proposed organizing a multi-country business forum in Islamabad. The forum would include East African countries. It aims to increase trade opportunities and strengthen economic partnerships.

He highlighted Pakistan’s manufacturing sector. This includes small and medium enterprises producing engineering goods, agricultural machinery, home appliances, and consumer products. These industries were identified as key areas for cooperation.

Agriculture, engineering, and tractor manufacturing were also discussed. The minister said Pakistan has strong experience in these fields. He suggested that cooperation in these sectors could benefit both sides.

The Ethiopian side also shared plans for a Single Country Exhibition of Ethiopia in Islamabad later this year. The event will showcase Ethiopian products and trade potential.

Both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in trade, industry, and connectivity. They also emphasized practical steps to improve engagement in the future.

Officials believe that the introduction of direct Airlines flights could boost tourism and trade between the two countries. It is also expected to reduce travel time and improve accessibility.
