Donald Trump says US delegation heading to Islamabad for Iran talks

Donald Trump has said that a US delegation is heading to Islamabad for talks, adding that his representatives are expected to arrive by tomorrow evening to begin negotiations.

In a post shared on his platform Truth Social, Trump accused Iran of opening fire in the Strait of Hormuz a day earlier, describing the incident as a violation of an existing ceasefire. He also claimed that Iran has announced the closure of the key shipping route, calling the move unusual, while asserting that the strait is already effectively blocked due to ongoing conditions.

Trump stated that the United States has presented what he described as a “good deal” to Iran and expressed optimism that Tehran might agree to the proposed terms. However, he issued a strong warning that if Iran rejects the offer, Washington could respond with severe action, including targeting critical infrastructure such as power plants and bridges.

He further argued that Iran’s actions in the Strait of Hormuz are inadvertently benefiting the United States, claiming that Tehran is facing significant financial losses—estimated at around $500 million per day—due to the situation, while the US remains largely unaffected.

The US president emphasized that there would be no further leniency in dealing with Iran and said he would consider it an honour to take decisive steps if negotiations fail. He also criticized previous US administrations, saying stronger measures should have been taken decades ago, and concluded by stating that the time has come to put an end to what he described as Iran’s ongoing aggressive actions.
