The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has extended its agreement with the Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) for continued use of the Losar landfill site. The decision was taken to ensure smooth waste disposal operations in Islamabad.
The extension was approved during the fourth CDA Board meeting of 2026. The meeting was held at the CDA Headquarters in Islamabad.
The session was chaired by CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Sohail Ashraf. He reviewed multiple administrative and development matters during the meeting.
One of the main approvals was the continuation of the landfill site agreement. The CDA confirmed that RWMC will continue using the Losar site for solid waste disposal.
This arrangement is considered important for maintaining waste management services in the capital. It helps ensure regular collection and proper disposal of waste.
The CDA also approved the extension of waste transportation and collection services. This includes movement of waste from transfer stations to the landfill site.
Officials said this system supports daily sanitation operations in Islamabad. It also helps manage increasing waste due to population growth.
During the meeting, CDA Chairman emphasized the need for modern waste management solutions. He directed officials to plan a scientifically designed landfill facility.
He also stressed environmental protection in future projects. The CDA highlighted sustainability as a key priority in urban planning.
The authority noted that Islamabad’s growing population is increasing pressure on waste systems. This makes improved infrastructure necessary for long-term efficiency.
The CDA Board also approved the allocation of additional land in H-11/1. This land will be used for the expansion of the Jinnah Medical Complex and Research Center.
The expansion aims to improve healthcare and research facilities in the city. It is expected to support rising demand for medical services.
The meeting included participation from senior officials and board members. Representatives from various departments attended the session.
