Pakistan is set to begin preparations for its upcoming Test series against Bangladesh. A training camp will be held in Karachi. Players are scheduled to report on 29 April.
The camp marks the start of Pakistan’s build-up for the two-match Test series. The series is part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025–27 cycle. The national team will depart for Bangladesh on 3 May.
The first Test is expected to begin on 8 May. The second Test is tentatively scheduled for 16 May. However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has not yet confirmed the venues.
As part of preparations, Pakistan selectors are finalizing the squad. Several changes are expected in both the team and management setup. Discussions are currently underway regarding final selections.
Former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed is also part of the discussions. Sources suggest he may take on coaching responsibilities for the Bangladesh series. This decision is still under consideration.
Wicketkeeper Rohail Nazir is also being considered for selection. The squad is expected to include some new faces. The aim is to strengthen Pakistan’s red-ball performance.
The team enters the series without recent Test match practice. Pakistan last played a Test series against South Africa in October last year. That series ended in a 1–1 draw.
Alongside the main camp, a separate red-ball training program is already in progress. Eighteen players are currently part of this preparation phase. The camp will continue until 20 April.
Officials say this structured training is part of long-term planning. It is designed to improve consistency in Test cricket. Pakistan aims to build a more stable red-ball squad.
Looking ahead, Pakistan has a busy Test schedule. The team is expected to tour the West Indies before the Bangladesh series begins. They will also tour England for a three-Test series later in the year.
Sri Lanka is scheduled to visit Pakistan in November for a two-Test series. New Zealand will also tour in March 2027 for another Test series.
