The Met Office has forecast a new spell of rain across various parts of the country as a westerly weather system is expected to enter northwestern regions on April 16 and remain active in upper areas until April 19.
Under the influence of this system, widespread rain accompanied by windstorms and thunderstorms is likely in multiple regions. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain is expected from the evening of April 16 through April 19, with occasional breaks. Several districts, including Chitral, Swat, Abbottabad, Peshawar, and Mardan, may experience moderate to heavy rain, with chances of hailstorms and snowfall in mountainous areas. Some southern districts may receive lighter rainfall during April 17 and 18.
Gilgit-Baltistan is also expected to receive steady rain during this period, with snowfall over higher altitudes. Areas such as Skardu, Hunza, and Gilgit may witness moderate to heavy precipitation.
In Kashmir, rain with thunderstorms and possible hailstorms is forecast from April 17 to 19. Heavier rainfall is expected on April 18 and 19 in regions like Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, and Mirpur.
Parts of Balochistan, including Quetta and Zhob, are likely to receive rain and thunderstorms on April 17 and 18.
Punjab and Islamabad are also expected to experience rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms between April 16 and 18. Cities such as Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Sialkot may see occasional heavy showers, while southern districts could face strong winds and thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, Sindh is likely to experience dust storms and gusty winds, particularly in upper areas, from April 16 to 18.
Overall, this weather system is expected to bring widespread rain and unstable conditions across much of the country.
