PIA Restarts Direct London Flights After Six-Year Gap

Pakistan International Airlines has officially restarted its direct flights between Pakistan and London after a six-year break, marking a key development for the country’s aviation sector.

The move is being viewed as a positive step toward enhancing political and economic ties between Pakistan and the United Kingdom. Initially, the airline will operate four weekly flights—three from Islamabad starting March 29 and one from Lahore beginning March 30—using Boeing 777 aircraft.

British High Commissioner Jane Marriott welcomed the decision, noting that it would benefit the large Pakistani community in the UK and further strengthen bilateral relations. She described the development as a sign of growing ties between the two nations.

Pakistan’s Defence Secretary also termed the resumption a significant moment for the aviation industry, highlighting the revival of a long-standing connection between PIA and London that had been suspended for six years.

Officials believe the restored flights will boost trade, tourism, and business activities between both countries. Direct flights from Karachi to London are also expected to begin soon, further improving connectivity.

It is worth noting that PIA had already resumed direct flights to Manchester in October 2025 after a five-year suspension.
