25 Protocol Vehicles of Punjab Assembly Suspended Key Details

The Punjab Assembly has taken significant steps to reduce costs as part of an ongoing austerity campaign. Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan has grounded 25 protocol vehicles, limiting their use to essential purposes only.

Officials said that only essential air conditioning and lighting are operational in the Punjab Assembly. All other electrical equipment has been switched off to save energy and reduce expenses.

Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan has also announced that he will not take any salary or benefits during this campaign. The move is part of his efforts to promote financial discipline and set an example for other officials.

Fuel usage in the Punjab Assembly has been significantly reduced. Petrol for committee chairpersons has been cut by 70 percent, while senior officers’ petrol consumption has been lowered by 50 percent. Authorities estimate these measures will save between Rs700,000 and Rs1 million per month.

In addition, the Punjab Assembly has introduced a 50 percent rotation-based duty roster for its employees. This step ensures that essential operations continue while reducing operational costs and energy consumption.

Officials emphasized that the austerity measures will not affect the core functioning of the Punjab Assembly. All essential services and legislative activities will continue without disruption.

The initiative highlights the Punjab Assembly’s commitment to fiscal responsibility and energy conservation. Authorities said these measures are part of a broader campaign to encourage efficient use of public resources across government institutions.
