The Punjab Traffic Police has issued a remarkable 5.5 million driving licenses over the last 100 days, covering learner, regular, and other categories, according to an official spokesperson. This significant figure highlights the growing demand for licensing services across the province.
During this period, more than 2.2 million learner driving licenses were granted, while around 147,000 citizens successfully obtained regular licenses after completing the required procedures. The data reflects a steady flow of applicants seeking legal permission to drive, as well as the department’s efforts to streamline the process.
In addition to new issuances, over 186,000 individuals renewed their learner, regular, and international driving licenses, ensuring their documents remained valid. Meanwhile, approximately 8,700 people applied for and received duplicate licenses due to loss or damage of their original documents.
The Punjab Traffic Police also facilitated international travel by issuing more than 13,700 international driving licenses, allowing citizens to legally drive abroad. This indicates a rising trend in overseas travel and mobility among residents of the province.
A notable development during this period was the increased use of digital platforms. According to the spokesperson, over 2.142 million citizens took advantage of online services to apply for or manage their driving licenses. This shift toward digital solutions demonstrates the department’s success in promoting convenience, reducing wait times, and minimizing the need for physical visits to licensing centers.
Overall, the issuance of 5.5 million driving licenses in just 100 days reflects both the efficiency of the Punjab Traffic Police and the public’s growing trust in its services. The expansion of online systems has further improved accessibility, making it easier for citizens to complete licensing procedures quickly and efficiently.
