Rana Sikandar Hayat has officially confirmed the reopening date for schools across Punjab, putting an end to ongoing uncertainty and speculation about a possible extension of holidays.
In a recent statement, the minister announced that all educational institutions in the province will resume classes from April 1. This clarification comes after widespread rumors suggesting that school closures might be prolonged due to the current energy situation in the country.
Earlier, there had been discussions about extending the holidays until April 15, along with the possibility of introducing a hybrid learning model that would combine in-person and online classes. However, no final decision had been made at that time, leaving students, parents, and teachers unsure about the academic schedule.
With this latest announcement, the confusion has now been resolved, as the government has decided to proceed with reopening schools at the beginning of April without any further delay. The decision provides clarity to all stakeholders and allows institutions to prepare for the resumption of regular academic activities.
The development follows several days of debate and speculation, particularly as authorities explored measures to manage energy consumption more efficiently. Suggestions to extend the break were largely linked to efforts aimed at reducing pressure on the energy sector during a challenging period.
Despite these considerations, the government has now opted to maintain the original reopening timeline. As a result, students across Punjab are expected to return to their classrooms from April 1, marking the end of the holiday period and the continuation of the academic year as scheduled.
