Rupee Hits Another Milestone as Winning Streak Keeps Growing

The Pakistani Rupee continued its positive performance against the US Dollar on Tuesday. The local currency recorded gains for the 212th consecutive trading day, extending a trend that has continued since late 2025.

According to the latest exchange rate data, the Rupee closed at Rs. 277.76 against the US Dollar after gaining one paisa during the day’s trading. The currency has remained on an upward path against the dollar since December 25, 2025, showing steady movement in the foreign exchange market.

The latest improvement was small, but it marked another day of stability for the local currency. The continued gains highlight the Rupee’s consistent performance over several months.

Besides the US Dollar, the Rupee also strengthened against several other major international currencies. It appreciated by one paisa against the UAE Dirham (AED) and closed at Rs. 75.62. The local currency also gained one paisa against the Saudi Riyal (SAR), ending the session at Rs. 73.95.

The Rupee posted stronger gains against European currencies. It appreciated by 40 paisas against the Euro (EUR), which closed at Rs. 319.69. It also gained 49 paisas against the British Pound (GBP), with the pound settling at Rs. 373.19.

Among other major currencies, the Rupee strengthened by nine paisas against the Canadian Dollar (CAD). The Canadian Dollar closed at Rs. 197.76 after the latest trading session.

However, the local currency did not gain against every major currency. The Rupee lost 46 paisas against the Australian Dollar (AUD). The Australian Dollar ended the day at Rs. 195.01, making it the only major currency against which the Rupee weakened.

The local currency also recorded slight gains against regional currencies. It appreciated marginally against both the Chinese Yuan (CNY) and the Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) during the day’s trading.

Exchange rate movements are closely watched because they affect businesses, importers, exporters, and consumers. A stronger Rupee can help lower the cost of imported goods, while changes in currency values also influence inflation and overall economic activity.

Market experts note that daily currency movements depend on several factors. These include foreign exchange reserves, remittances, trade flows, global market conditions, and investor confidence. Small changes in exchange rates are common, but the Rupee’s long winning streak against the US Dollar reflects an extended period of stability.

The latest trading session shows that the Rupee continues to perform steadily against most major currencies. While it recorded a slight decline against the Australian Dollar, it maintained gains against the US Dollar, Euro, British Pound, UAE Dirham, Saudi Riyal, Canadian Dollar, Chinese Yuan, and Malaysian Ringgit. The continued upward trend makes the Rupee’s performance one of the longest positive runs against the US Dollar in recent years.
