Saudi Arabia has introduced new relief measures for foreign nationals stranded in the country due to ongoing regional tensions. The Ministry of Interior announced that all visas expiring on or after February 25, 2026, have been extended until April 18, 2026.
The extension applies to all types of visas, including visit visas, Umrah visas, transit visas, and final exit visas. Officials stated the move aims to support individuals unable to leave Saudi Arabia due to disrupted travel routes caused by the regional situation.
Foreign nationals can apply for visa extensions through the Absher online platform. Sponsors must log into their accounts, go to “My Services,” select “Passports,” and choose “Tawasul” to submit their requests. Relevant documents must be uploaded, and the extension will be processed upon payment of prescribed statutory fees.
In addition to extensions, Saudi Arabia has allowed foreign visitors to depart the country without renewing visas or paying fines for overstays. Travelers can leave directly through international border crossings, and all procedures will be completed at the point of exit. The Ministry emphasized that no prior arrangements are needed for this process.
Authorities have urged all affected individuals to leave Saudi Arabia before April 18, 2026. Anyone remaining beyond the deadline may face legal action and penalties under Saudi regulations.
The new measures aim to provide humanitarian relief and ensure smooth travel for foreign nationals, including pilgrims and visitors, who were affected by the ongoing crisis. By offering both visa extensions and fee-free departures, Saudi Arabia has given travelers flexible options to regularize their status and exit safely.
Officials said these steps reflect the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting foreign residents and visitors during challenging times. The initiative is expected to reduce stress for stranded travelers and maintain orderly travel amid regional uncertainties.
