The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted a countrywide spell of rain and thunderstorms from March 24 to March 30, as a strong weather system enters the region. Authorities have warned that some areas may experience heavy rainfall, hailstorms, and even flash floods during this period.
According to the Met Office, a western disturbance is expected to reach southwestern Balochistan on the evening of March 24. This system is likely to strengthen by March 27 and could remain active until March 31. Due to its impact, different parts of the country will witness rain, gusty winds, and thunderstorms, with some المناطق also receiving snowfall in hilly areas.
Balochistan is expected to receive rain with occasional heavy falls and isolated hailstorms in several المناطق, including coastal and inland districts, between March 24–25 and again from March 27–29. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rainfall along with thunderstorms and snowfall over mountains is forecast from March 25–26, with another widespread spell expected between March 28–30.
Punjab and Islamabad, including upper علاقوں like Murree and Galiyat, are also likely to receive rain and thunderstorms in two phases — March 25–26 and March 28–30. Similar conditions are expected in سندھ, including major cities, during March 25–26 and March 28–29.
Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir will also experience rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall over hills during the same periods, with chances of heavy rainfall and hailstorms in some locations.
The PMD has cautioned that landslides may occur in vulnerable mountainous areas, while heavy rains could trigger flash floods in Balochistan and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Strong winds, lightning, and hail may also damage weak structures, crops, and infrastructure.
Farmers have been advised to take precautionary steps, while travelers and tourists are urged to remain careful. Authorities have been directed to stay alert and take necessary measures to prevent any emergencies.
