The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore has issued crucial guidelines for students appearing in the 2026 Matric exam

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore has issued crucial guidelines for students appearing in the 2026 Matric exam, set to commence on March 27.

The board has instructed candidates to reach their examination centers at least 45 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. Late arrivals will not be permitted entry under any circumstances, ensuring smooth and timely conduct of the exams.

To maintain the integrity of the Matric exam, all centers will implement biometric verification for every student. Each candidate’s identity will be confirmed using this system before they are allowed to sit for their papers. Authorities have emphasized that these instructions are also printed on students’ roll number slips, and strict adherence is mandatory to guarantee a fair and organized examination environment.

Officials highlighted that these measures aim to ensure transparency, prevent cheating, and uphold merit-based assessment throughout the Matric exam process.

Earlier, the Punjab government approved the introduction of digital biometric verification across all educational boards to curb cheating, forgery, and irregularities in both the 2026 Matric and Intermediate exams. This decision was made during a meeting at BISE Lahore, attended by senior representatives from all nine Punjab boards.

Under the new system, students will undergo biometric identification before entering the examination halls. The meeting also approved reforms for practical exams, including a standardized grading system, CCTV surveillance in laboratories, and a digital marking process. These steps are designed to reduce human error and prevent corruption during examinations.

Additionally, the government has announced an increase in compensation for invigilators and examination staff, aiming to ensure their accountability and dedication.

These comprehensive measures reflect efforts to modernize the Matric exam system, enhance fairness, and maintain the credibility of Pakistan’s public examinations
