Iran Thanks Pakistan for Support Amid Rising Tensions

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi expressed gratitude to the government and people of Pakistan for their strong support amid ongoing aggression from the United States and Israel.

In a post written in Urdu, Araghchi said, “On this blessed, divine, and spiritually significant day and hour, I extend my heartfelt thanks to the government and people of Pakistan for their full-throated expression of solidarity with the people and government of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the face of aggression by America and the Zionist regime.”

He reaffirmed that Iran remains steadfast in defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity, relying fully on Allah Almighty for guidance and strength.

Amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited Saudi Arabia last week for urgent talks with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, a day after speaking with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. The diplomatic efforts reflect Pakistan’s attempts to maintain balance amid the crisis.

The conflict intensified following a US-Israel strike on Iran on February 28, which reportedly killed over 1,300 people, including Iran’s then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and more than 150 schoolgirls. In retaliation, Iran launched missile and drone attacks across Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries, causing casualties among US service members and at least three Pakistanis.

The ongoing hostilities have also affected global oil supplies, with the Strait of Hormuz closed, sending prices soaring. Pakistan has responded by raising fuel costs and seeking alternative supplies from Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held talks with Azerbaijan’s top diplomat, highlighting Islamabad’s active diplomatic efforts amid the rapidly escalating regional crisis.
