Leopard Spotted Again at IIUI Campus, Safety Concerns Rise

A leopard has once again been spotted at the campus of International Islamic University Islamabad, raising fresh safety concerns among students and university authorities.

According to university sources, students noticed the wild animal on campus after sunset, which caused panic among those living in the university’s hostels. This marks the second sighting in the past two months, as a leopard was previously reported roaming in the same area.

Following the earlier incident, the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board installed traps and cages at multiple locations across the campus to safely capture the animal. However, despite these efforts, wildlife officials have not yet succeeded in trapping the leopard.

The repeated sightings have heightened fears among male and female hostel residents, who worry that the predator may still be moving around the campus or in nearby areas.

In response to the latest sighting, the university administration issued a safety advisory urging students and staff to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary movement in isolated areas, particularly during evening and nighttime hours.

Officials confirmed that the university administration has informed both the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board and the Capital Development Authority about the situation so that coordinated efforts can be made to capture the animal safely.

A university spokesperson stated that wildlife teams have been provided accommodation, food, and transport on campus to support the rescue operation. Authorities have also placed cages and nets at several strategic points, but the leopard has so far managed to evade capture.

The university administration has also called an emergency meeting to review the situation and discuss additional safety measures to ensure the protection of students and staff.
