The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has introduced stricter regulations for medical and dental colleges, making student registration mandatory and approving fee increases for 19 private institutions, according to an official notification.
Under the new rules, all public and private medical and dental colleges are required to register every admitted student within the stipulated timeframe. Institutions failing to comply will face penalties, including a fine of Rs 50,000 for each unregistered student. Colleges that admit students beyond their approved seat allocation will be charged 100% of the fee for each additional student, while full fees will also apply to irregular or unauthorized admissions.
PMDC has also outlined further penalties for administrative violations. Submitting graduation reports late will incur Rs 75,000 per student, delays in annual exam results will be fined Rs 30,000 per student, and late issuance of merit or admission lists will result in a Rs 500,000 fine. If delays continue, an additional Rs 50,000 daily fine will be imposed.
Repeated violations carry stricter consequences. Institutions that breach the rules three times may be placed on the PMDC grey list, and their seat allocation for the following academic year could be reduced.
These measures aim to ensure transparency, proper record-keeping, and compliance with PMDC regulations while maintaining accountability in medical and dental education institutions across Pakistan.
