Under the program, solar systems with a total capacity of 58 megawatts will be distributed across Gilgit-Baltistan. Of this amount, 40 megawatts will be allocated for household consumers, while 18 megawatts will be reserved for small businesses and information technology enterprises.
Provincial ministers welcomed the initiative and described it as a major step forward for the people of the region. They said the scheme will not only help reduce the ongoing electricity crisis but will also contribute to broader economic progress.
Officials further noted that the project will particularly benefit the IT sector and small business community in Gilgit-Baltistan. By providing reliable solar energy, the scheme is expected to create better opportunities for businesses to operate efficiently and grow, while also reducing dependence on conventional power sources.
