The Sindh government has announced a public holiday on Jumma-Tul-Wida, ahead of religious observances across the province.
Minister for Local Government Nasir Hussain Shah stated that a road in Karachi will be named after Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, reflecting the province’s recognition of the religious leader.
The minister also emphasized that no rallies will be allowed on Shahrah-e-Faisal due to court orders, and all organizations must conduct processions along their traditional routes to maintain public safety.
Across Pakistan, processions for Youm-e-Ali are underway in major and smaller cities. In Karachi, several streets and lanes in the Saddar area have been blocked with containers to manage traffic and security.
In a separate move, the Sindh government has implemented a four-day work week for government offices, open from Monday to Thursday, while Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are now holidays. Additionally, fuel usage for government vehicles has been reduced by 50% to support energy conservation initiatives.
