The International Cricket Council (ICC) has shortlisted eight players for the Player of the Tournament award at the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup. Among them, Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan earned recognition for his outstanding performance.
Farhan scored 383 runs in 7 matches at an impressive average of 76.60 and a strike rate of 160.25. He set a new record for the most runs in a single T20 World Cup edition, including centuries against Sri Lanka national cricket team and Namibia. He is also the only batter in T20 World Cup history to score two centuries in a single edition.
Other nominees include India’s Sanju Samsonicketer”], England’s [“athlete”,”Will Jacks”,”English cricketer”], South Africa’s Lungi Ngidi and Aiden Markram, New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra and Tim Seifert, and the United States’ Shadley Fen Scolovik.
South Africa’s Lungi Ngidi has been a standout in the pace department, claiming a four-wicket haul against Canada and taking three wickets in the Super Over thriller against Afghanistan. He also impressed against West Indies cricket team and kept India’s batters under control with economical bowling, conceding only 15 runs in four overs despite not taking wickets.
The award highlights the tournament’s best performers, recognizing players who have contributed consistently with bat or ball throughout the T20 World Cup. Farhan’s record-breaking feat and consistent scoring make him a strong contender for the top honor.
