The Karachi administration has set up a 24-hour emergency control center following instructions from Mayor Murtaza Wahab. The move comes amid the current security situation in the city.
The emergency cell has been established at the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) head office. It will operate around the clock to monitor and respond to any emergency situation. The chief fire officer will lead the cell, supported by the deputy director of City Wardens and representatives from other institutions.
Officials said the purpose of the emergency cell is to ensure a timely and effective response. All KMC department heads have been directed to provide full assistance during emergencies.
An emergency has also been declared at all hospitals managed by the KMC. Authorities have shared contact numbers of relevant officers to ensure quick communication in case of urgent situations.
According to the official notification, all department heads must ensure immediate action in emergencies. Essential services departments have been placed on high alert and are required to remain fully operational.
Departments are instructed to maintain functional equipment, operational machinery, and ambulances with adequate staff. Medical and paramedical personnel have been assigned to emergency duty. Leave for all essential services staff has been suspended until further notice.
The Karachi emergency cell will coordinate efforts across all departments to maintain public safety. Officials emphasized the importance of monitoring developing situations and responding promptly to incidents.
