5 European Countries Agree to Explore Jobs for Pakistanis

Five Northern and Eastern European countries have agreed in principle to provide employment opportunities for Pakistani nationals, marking a significant step toward promoting legal migration and labor mobility.

The development took place during a six-country conference of interior ministers on illegal immigration, held in Warsaw. Pakistan’s delegation was led by Mohsin Naqvi, joining representatives from Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Finland, and Lithuania.

During the meeting, the European nations commended Pakistan for its efforts to curb illegal immigration and dismantle human trafficking networks. Officials noted Islamabad’s recent actions to strengthen border control and impose stricter measures against human smuggling.

The countries agreed to explore employment pathways for Pakistani nationals, expanding legal migration channels while discouraging irregular travel. The ministers also discussed coordinated strategies to combat human smuggling and enhance international cooperation on migration management.

At the conference, Mohsin Naqvi briefed participants on security along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, highlighting the presence of around 22 terrorist organizations operating in Afghanistan. He described Pakistan as a “wall” standing between global terrorist elements and Afghanistan and emphasized the need for stronger international collaboration to address both security and migration challenges.

Officials said the agreement could create new employment opportunities for Pakistani workers and strengthen collaboration between Pakistan and European countries on migration and regional security matters. The move is expected to provide safer and structured avenues for labor migration, benefiting both Pakistan and the participating European nations.
