More Public Buses Planned for Karachi

The Sindh government has announced plans to increase the number of buses in Karachi’s public transport system to improve travel facilities for residents across the city. The move aims to address commuting challenges and provide better transportation options for daily passengers.

The decision was taken during a high-level meeting of the Transport and Mass Transit Department, chaired by Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon. During the session, officials reviewed the progress of ongoing initiatives, including the Red Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, and explored measures to enhance passenger comfort and convenience.

Sharjeel Inam Memon instructed relevant authorities to speed up the addition of new buses and prioritize routes where commuters experience the most difficulties. He emphasized that expanding the bus network would ensure safer, more affordable, and dependable transport services for the public.

The minister also stressed the need for a stronger public awareness campaign regarding development projects so that citizens remain informed and experience minimal inconvenience during construction work.

In addition, he directed departments to immediately begin construction on the second segment of the Senator Taj Haider Bridge and urged swift implementation of related tasks.

Officials reiterated that the Sindh government remains focused on developing a modern and efficient public transportation system in Karachi. They expressed confidence that introducing more buses, along with the continued development of BRT corridors, will significantly improve commuting conditions and make daily travel smoother for city residents.
