Two Days, Two Earthquakes Another Earthquake Shakes Islamabad and KP Cities

A 4.5 magnitude earthquake struck parts of northern Pakistan on Saturday morning. The tremors were felt at around 9:27 am. Residents in Islamabad and Rawalpindi reported brief shaking.

The earthquake was also felt in several cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. These included Haripur, Khanpur, and Swabi. Many people said their homes and offices moved for a few seconds.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the earthquake measured 4.5 on the Richter scale. Officials said the epicenter was located in the northern region. The tremors were short but noticeable.

Some residents rushed outside as a safety step. However, authorities confirmed there were no immediate reports of injuries. No major structural damage was reported either.

Experts say moderate earthquake activity is common in northern Pakistan. The region lies near active tectonic plate boundaries. These plates are part of the Himalayan belt. Their movement often causes seismic activity.

Seismologists advised citizens to remain calm during such events. They also urged people to follow basic safety guidelines. Staying away from windows and heavy objects is important during an earthquake.

This was the second earthquake reported in two days. On Friday, a stronger 5.6 magnitude quake hit parts of northern Pakistan. The tremors were widely felt in the federal capital and many KP districts.

According to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre, the Friday earthquake had a depth of 73 kilometers. Its epicenter was in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan.

Tremors from that quake were reported in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Several KP areas also felt the shaking. These included Swat, Mardan, Lower Dir, Malakand, Chitral, and Khyber. Residents in Bara, Jamrud, Landi Kotal, and Tirah also experienced the tremors.

People left their homes and offices during the shaking. Many were seen reciting prayers as the tremors stopped. Authorities said no casualties or major damage were reported.
