Domestic and international carriers have significantly increased flight fares for Saudi Arabia as Umrah travel gains momentum ahead of Ramadan. With thousands of pilgrims planning their journey during the sacred month, airlines have adjusted ticket prices in response to the rising demand.
According to travel industry sources, business class tickets for Saudi-bound flights are now being sold for as much as Rs500,000. Meanwhile, fares for economy and economy plus categories have also jumped sharply, currently ranging between Rs180,000 and Rs200,000. The surge reflects a seasonal pattern that occurs every year when Umrah traffic intensifies, particularly during the first ten days of Ramadan.
Travel experts note that demand is expected to grow even further during the second and third Ashras of Ramadan, traditionally considered the most spiritually significant period for pilgrims. Anticipating heavier passenger volumes, airlines have revised their pricing structures upward to maximize revenue during this peak season.
Previously, economy class tickets were generally available between Rs130,000 and Rs140,000. However, current rates show an increase of more than 40 percent. Business class flight fares have experienced an even steeper rise, touching the half-million-rupee mark on several routes.
A representative from a local travel agency confirmed that such price hikes are common during high-demand seasons like Ramadan. He explained that airlines typically adjust flight fares based on passenger load and seat availability. At present, most flights are reportedly operating at full capacity, and the few remaining seats are being sold at premium rates due to limited availability.
Industry insiders suggest that the upward trend in flight fares may continue as Ramadan approaches, leaving late planners with fewer affordable options for their Umrah travel.
