The Embassy of France in Pakistan has issued a public alert following reports that scammers are posing as French diplomatic officials to deceive visa applicants.
In an official statement, the embassy revealed that fraudsters are impersonating the French consulate, the embassy, and even the ambassador in an attempt to offer fake assistance with visa applications. These individuals are reportedly demanding hundreds of euros in exchange for services that have no link to the legitimate visa process.
The embassy firmly clarified that it does not request payments through unofficial methods. All visa fees are collected strictly via authorized and recognized channels. Applicants were reminded that any demand for payment outside the official system should be treated as suspicious.
Authorities have urged people to stay cautious and refrain from sharing personal details, documents, or financial information with unknown individuals. Anyone approached by suspected scammers is advised to immediately inform local law enforcement agencies or contact the embassy directly through its verified phone numbers.
Officials also warned that certain documents being circulated online as proof of authenticity by scammers are entirely fabricated. These forged papers do not originate from the embassy, the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, or the French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons.
The embassy reiterated that applicants should rely solely on official websites and communication channels for accurate visa information. It cautioned that falling victim to such schemes could lead to significant financial losses and potential misuse of sensitive personal data.
