The Government of Sindh has made it mandatory for all applicants to complete formal driving training before obtaining a driving license anywhere in the province. The decision was taken during the 50th session of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Policy Board, chaired by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, where several key development initiatives were reviewed and approved.
During the meeting, the board gave the green light to multiple projects spanning education, transport, and tourism sectors. A major highlight was the approval to establish Heavy Transport Vehicle (HTV) and Light Transport Vehicle (LTV) driver training institutes across Sindh. Under the new policy, no driving license will be issued to individuals who fail to complete the required pre-license training program.
The provincial government has set an ambitious goal to train and license 100,000 drivers over the next five years. Officials believe this structured training system will not only enhance road safety but also improve the professional standards of drivers throughout the province.
In addition to transport-related initiatives, the board also endorsed projects focusing on eco-tourism and the protection of forest resources, reflecting the government’s broader commitment to environmental sustainability.
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah emphasized that the initiative aims to equip young people with internationally recognized driving skills, increasing their employment opportunities both locally and overseas. He further directed relevant departments to accelerate progress on the Marble City Karachi project, making it clear that unnecessary delays in its implementation will not be tolerated.
