MET Office Forecasts Rain and Thunderstorms Across Pakistan

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a forecast warning that a shallow westerly wave is expected to affect western parts of the country from 16th February. Authorities predict widespread rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds during this period.

Light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds, is expected in several Balochistan districts, including Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Chaghi, Nokkundi, Dalbandin, Noushki, Harnai, Zhob, Kalat, Mustung, Bar Khan, Sibbi, Loralai, Khuzdar, Kech, Turbat, Panjgur, Gawadar, Awaran, Kharan, Pasni, Ormara, and Lasbella from the evening of 16th February into 17th February, with occasional breaks.

Southern Sindh, including Dadu, Hyderabad, Karachi, Thatta, Badin, Jamshoro, Shukur, Larkana, Jacobabad, and Khairpur, is expected to experience similar weather on 17th February, with gusty and dust-raising winds likely to accompany rainfall.

In the northwestern regions, including Waziristan, Bannu, D.I. Khan, and Kurram, light to moderate rain with thunderstorms is expected during the night of 16th February and continuing into 17th February.

Other areas including D.G. Khan, Multan, Bhakkar, Layyah, Bahawalpur, and surrounding districts may receive light rain or drizzle along with gusty winds on 17th February. Additionally, hailstorms are likely in north Balochistan, D.I. Khan, and D.G. Khan during the forecast period.

Farmers have been advised to take precautionary measures to protect crops, livestock, and irrigation systems in anticipation of the upcoming wet and windy conditions. Residents are also urged to stay alert and follow safety guidelines issued by local authorities.
