Imran Khan, former prime minister and founder of PTI, is currently facing a deeply personal health crisis that goes beyond his long political and legal battles. Known for his resilience in public life, Imran Khan is now struggling with a serious medical condition after losing most of the vision in his right eye.
According to a detailed medical report submitted to the Supreme Court by his lawyer Salman Safdar, Imran Khan has retained only 15 percent eyesight in the affected eye. The seven-page report explains that a blood clot caused significant and permanent damage. Despite medical treatment, including injections and specialized care, doctors were unable to restore his vision.
Imran Khan was recently shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for an eye procedure. However, PTI claimed that neither his family nor party leaders were informed beforehand, raising concerns about transparency and prisoner care. Khan stated that he had perfect vision until October 2025 but later began experiencing blurred sight. He reportedly alerted jail authorities several times, yet no timely action was taken, leading to sudden and severe vision loss.
The report notes that Imran Khan appeared visibly distressed during meetings, with watery eyes and discomfort. For nearly three months, he was treated only with eye drops, which proved ineffective. He also complained about the lack of dental care and regular medical tests, while access for his personal doctors was restricted.
Imran Khan further expressed concerns over limited legal and family contact. He said he has been unable to properly consult his legal team and meets his wife only briefly once a week. Communication with his sons has also been rare.
Despite these challenges, Imran Khan maintains a simple daily routine in jail, including prayers, exercise, walks, and modest meals provided by his family.
