Pakistan’s exports of marble, onyx, and related stone products to China stayed largely steady in 2025, supported by consistent demand from the construction and interior decoration sectors, which typically pick up ahead of the Spring Festival.
Data from China’s General Administration of Customs (GACC) showed Türkiye leading the category with shipments worth $18.49 million, followed by Bulgaria at $16.75 million. Pakistan ranked third, exporting 31.74 million kilograms of calcareous building stone valued at $8.10 million. Under HS Code 25152000, which includes calcareous monumental and building stones such as alabaster and onyx, Pakistan remained China’s third-largest supplier.
Exports of processed marble products recorded moderate growth. Shipments under HS Code 25151200, covering marble and travertine cut into rectangular blocks or slabs, rose to $5.41 million in 2025 from $5.02 million a year earlier. Exports of crude or roughly trimmed marble and travertine under HS Code 25151100 also edged up slightly.
However, performance was mixed across other related categories. Exports of precious metal ores and concentrates dropped sharply to $2.39 million from $8.62 million in 2024. Meanwhile, exports of unworked precious and semi-precious stones reached $2.57 million. Granite shipments showed contrasting trends, with crude exports declining but cut granite increasing, indicating a gradual shift toward value-added products.
Industry representatives said demand for Pakistani marble and onyx typically rises before the Chinese New Year. Exhibitors reported strong sales of decorative items carved with Chinese characters and themed designs, including horse-shaped products for the Year of the Horse. Sellers noted that Chinese buyers appreciate both the quality of Pakistani stone and the country’s positive reputation.
Overall, the figures suggest that stable demand and growing interest in processed marble products helped sustain Pakistan’s stone exports to China, even as raw material shipments saw limited growth.
