The 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) could see matches played at a new venue in Peshawar for the first time. The Imran Khan Stadium may host the league’s fixtures after the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Apex Committee reportedly approved the plan following a recent security review.
Peshawar is home to Peshawar Zalmi, one of the most popular PSL franchises. However, the city has never hosted PSL matches since the league began in 2016. The proposed new venue has reignited hopes among fans and players of finally seeing top-level T20 cricket in the provincial capital.
Recent upgrades at the Imran Khan Stadium have enhanced the facilities, making it suitable for international-standard cricket. While the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and PSL management have not released an official statement, excitement increased after Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi hinted at the development on social media.
Afridi wrote: “ALHAMDULILAH PSL IN PESHAWAR #PSL11,” a post interpreted by fans as confirmation that PSL 11 may be held at the city’s new venue.
If confirmed, this will give Peshawar Zalmi a proper home ground for the first time, a historic moment for the team and its supporters. Hosting PSL matches at a new venue could also pave the way for international cricket to return to Peshawar, which has long awaited high-profile matches.
Fans are now eagerly awaiting an official announcement from the PCB. The introduction of a new venue in Peshawar could also boost local tourism and inspire further investment in sports infrastructure.
